It’s World Mental Health Day

Every year on 10 October, people around the world come together to recognise World Mental Health Day. The day aims to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage positive action to support mental wellbeing.

It serves as an important reminder that mental health is a vital part of our overall health and that small, everyday actions can have a meaningful impact on how we feel, connect, and thrive.

This year’s World Mental Health Day theme, Together We Thrive, highlights the powerful role that connection, community, and belonging play in supporting positive mental health.

When we feel connected to others, we are more likely to feel supported through life’s challenges, build resilience, and experience a greater sense of wellbeing. Whether it’s spending time with friends and family, joining a local group, volunteering, or participating in community activities, meaningful connections can have a lasting impact on our mental health.

The theme reminds us that nobody should have to face challenges alone. By supporting one another and creating inclusive, welcoming communities, we can help everyone thrive.

The Power of Community

At our venue, we see every day how recreation, movement, and social connection bring people together.

Our facility is more than a place to exercise. It’s a place where people meet, build friendships, feel supported, and become part of a community. These connections are an important part of maintaining good mental health and wellbeing.

Simple Ways to Prioritise Your Mental Wellbeing

Looking for a way to get involved this World Mental Health Day? Try one of these simple actions:

  • Reaching out to a friend, family member, neighbour, or colleague.
  • Joining a local activity, club, or community group.
  • Making time for physical activity, whether it’s a swim, workout, walk, or fitness class.
  • Volunteering or supporting someone who may be feeling isolated.
  • Starting an open and honest conversation about mental health.
